This interactive town hall will explore the physical and social data needed to advance landslide risk reduction over the coming decade. Through short expert reflections and an open, participatory discussion, attendees will identify critical data gaps, emerging technologies and priorities relating to hazard and risk assessment, monitoring, early warning, policy, community engagement and post-landslide impact recording. Participants will also consider how remote sensing, modelling, artificial intelligence, citizen science and improved data-sharing practices can support research and decision-making. The discussion will conclude by identifying priority actions for the international landslide community following WLF7.

This science-policy session will examine recent cascading disasters in mountain regions and their implications for disaster-risk management. Drawing on experiences involving landslides, flash floods, debris flows, glacial lake outburst floods and avalanches, the session will bring together scientific and policy perspectives to identify effective practices, persistent deficiencies and priorities for future action. Short expert presentations will be followed by a moderated panel discussion and an open plenary exchange, with particular attention to experiences from the Hindu Kush Himalaya and to strengthening the connection between scientific evidence, public policy and operational risk management.
